The town of Lexington Park, MD with a population of over 10,000 is located on the western side of the Chesapeake Bay, about an hour and a half southeast of Washington DC.
The town is the main service hub for Naval Air Station Patuxent River established during World War II and made famous during the space race.
The area's main point of interest is Point Lookout State Park, located at the southernmost tip of Maryland's western shore.
