The cities of Rockville and Gaithersburg are located northwest of Washington DC, outside of the Capital Beltway and along the I-270 leading to Fredrick, MD. Together the cities are home to more than 100,000 people.
Points of interest include the Gaithersburg Latitude Observatory, the Stone Street Medical Museum and the Music Center at Strathmore. Area shopping centers include the Lakeforest Mall, Montgomery Mall and White Flint Mall.
Most hotels and motels in the Rockville and Gaithersburg area are situated along the I-270 between the two cities. They offer easy highway access to all businesses in the northwestern part of the capital. They also offer easy access to the Washington Metro station offering train connection to downtown DC.
